Coverage: RESO "Terrains De Je" Artist Residency @ Marrakech's Jardin Rouge
With the event “Terrains de JE”, which started on October 12th , Jardin Rouge presented several new works and installations by RESO, a key figure of the urban graffiti scene.
During his Moroccan escapade the artist used raw materials to model his creation, playing with objects like jute bags, tin cans, old papers… He makes colour dance within these limitations.
RESO wishes to communicate with elementariness: reds, blues, yellows, greens wander through his works. Repetitive forms make his paintings instantly recognizable. The series composed and presented at Jardin Rouge invites us to a multi-faceted trip between Toulouse’s concrete and the Marrakech’s lands.
The Jardin Rouge’s artistic residency has implanted itself on a 32 acres site under the ægis of the Montresso foundation. Thoroughly redesigned and restored, the old agricultural constructions, made of rammed earth, are now accommodating facilities and studios to welcome selected artists from all around the globe.

With walls up to 3.5m thick, the structures were made so indestructible they still remain today. Many see these towers as an eye sore but others see them as a reminder of a dark past never to be repeated.
Many of the towers still remain empty, however a few have been redesigned to give them a new life. In 1957, the flak tower located only a few blocks from the mural was repurposed to be an aquarium. The former bunker is now a place dedicated to preserving a diversity of (animal) life and the imparting of knowledge. The mural tells the story of how the neighborhood of Mariahilf not only rose from all the challenges history subjected it to, but also how it turned the horrors of its past into a bright, positive and multifaceted future.

Herakut paints a new piece in Paris for Proj256
Hera and Akut from Herakut recently visited Paris to create a new piece for the launch of a non-profit campaign Proj 256. Known for their social engagement worldwide, German art duo painted a portrait of a local homeless man Karim in hope to help him ease his every day life.
The idea of this original project is to help homeless people by providing an easy way for others to hear their story and make a financial donation. By combining art and technology they encourage artists to paint portraits of local homeless and than stencil a QR code next to the piece. The code links to the movie that tells the story about the person as well as provides an easy way for people to make a Bitcoin donation. As a part of the campaign, the homeless people included in the project are given old recycled mobile device that can be used to buy food, shelter for the night or save for larger purchases.
Check out more images after the jump and keep an eye on Proj256.org for more info about the project and upcoming works.
Patricia Carrega
El trabajo de Patricia Carrega, artista especializada en murales de vidrio vitrografiado es como mínimo impresionante, realmente vale la pena gozar con sus obras, la mayoría realizadas con grabados al ácido, pero también los hay coloreados imagino que en frió.
