Guido Van Helten is still in Australia where he just finished a brand new portrait somewhere on the streets of Port Kembla, a suburb of Wollongong 8 km south of the CBD and part of the Illawarra region of New South Wales.The popular Australian artist & muralist created this new piece showing the face of a young girl painted using his signature style and technique. Fintan Magee just sent us a series of images from his newest installation which was just completed somewhere on the streets of Sydney, Australia.The image of the children is taken from a photograph from a discarded newspaper clipping. The work shows seven Syrian refugee children, at first they appear as regular children but as you step deeper into the space the mirrors we installed distort the image and you discover that the line of children stretches infinitely. The children wait to fill empty water vessels which is a symbol for the healing component. The work comments on the scale of the current refugee crisis and echo's a cynical view on how history repeats itself.
