"#AROUNDTHEWORLD", a new mural by Bicicleta Sem Freio in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

While we last heard from them in California a few days ago, the globe-trotting Bicicleta Sem Freio are back in Brazil where they just finished working on a large new mural on the streets of Rio De Janeiro.
Entitled "#AROUNDTHEWORLD", this mural was created in partnership with Marriott Rewards and JUSTKIDS to commemorate the NBA Global Games in Rio.
Taking place last week-end, the Orlando Magic triumphed with a 90-73 victory over Flamengo at the HSBC Arena. Next stop for the global games will be Mexico City on December 3rd.

Taking place last weekend, the Orlando Magic triumphed with a 90-73 victory over Flamengo at the HSBC Arena. Marriott Rewards will be joining the remaining NBA Global Games in Montreal, Mexico City, and London.

Working on the busy streets of the Catete district in the beautiful Zona Sul of Rio, the talented Brazilian street art duo worked their magic to create this vibrant mural which is showcasing some of their trademark style and imagery. The blue basketball is surrounded by three hands, a recurrent element in Bicicleta's work. The hands are representing the earth, from city to ocean to land. This piece is now one of the largest murals living in Rio De Janeiro.

"#AROUNDTHEWORLD" represents the campaign that is rewarding Marriott’s loyalty members with elite NBA experiences in Brazil, Canada, China, Italy, Mexico, Spain and the UK. Marriott Rewards members are able to access the NBA Global Games and their related events, while North American members can enter a sweepstakes that will take them to the London game in January.

Marriott Rewards is the award-winning loyalty traveler program that rewards you with exclusive membership privileges when staying at one of Marriott’s 4,000 properties worldwide. Rewards members are able to redeem points for many extraordinary experiences such as exclusive & unique events reserved for members, hotel stays, dining, shopping, spa visits and much more.

Continue reading to discover more images on this artwork and if you stop by Rio De Janeiro, you'll be able to find the mural on the corner of Rua do Catete and Rua Dutra.

PangeaSeed’s mission is to contribute to the protection of sharks, our oceans and marine life by undertaking actions that encourage environmental activism and sustainable consumption choices.
Through volunteer activism, research and the various mediums of art, music film and photography, PangeaSeed aims to create a sea change within the global community and develop an understanding of the need to preserve and protect the world’s oceans.

Following their recent international large-scale public artworks across Europe and America in major cities likes London, Berlin, Miami, Las Vegas or Los Angeles (where they painted the largest building ever in DownTown), Bicicleta Sem Freio aka Douglas de Castro and Renato Perreira are now recognized worldwide for their expressive line work and warm, vibrant color schemes.
Their signature style, which draws references from their roots in music, Brazilian culture, their love for 80s and pop culture iconography, have been emerging on large-scale public installations all over the world, including recently on a mythical Oscar Nemeyer building in Brazil.

For PangeaSeed's second annual summer session of the groundbreaking street art project, Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans, Bicicleta Sem Freio will join the supporting roster of over 25 internationally renowned contemporary artists all coming together to paint public murals in the island oasis of Cozumel, Mexico July 17-26 helping to inspire, educate and raise awareness within coastal communities regarding pressing ocean environmental issues such as overfishing, plastic & pollution, rising sea levels and habitat / species loss.

"Hammer Time " is an edition of 40, eight-layer screenprint on Hanhnemuhle 350gr paper, it measures 50 x 70 cm and comes signed and numbered by the Brazilian artist.

All proceeds raised from purchases of this print will go directly towards supporting PangeaSeed's efforts to help save sharks and other marine species in peril.
