Coverage: RESO "Terrains De Je" Artist Residency @ Marrakech's Jardin Rouge

With the event “Terrains de JE”, which started on October 12th , Jardin Rouge presented several new works and installations by RESO, a key figure of the urban graffiti scene.
During his Moroccan escapade the artist used raw materials to model his creation, playing with objects like jute bags, tin cans, old papers… He makes colour dance within these limitations.
RESO wishes to communicate with elementariness: reds, blues, yellows, greens wander through his works. Repetitive forms make his paintings instantly recognizable. The series composed and presented at Jardin Rouge invites us to a multi-faceted trip between Toulouse’s concrete and the Marrakech’s lands.
The Jardin Rouge’s artistic residency has implanted itself on a 32 acres site under the ægis of the Montresso foundation. Thoroughly redesigned and restored, the old agricultural constructions, made of rammed earth, are now accommodating facilities and studios to welcome selected artists from all around the globe.

Our friend, the internationally acclaimed Mexican street artist Edgar “Saner” Flores has transformed Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens’ galleries into a mythological playground for his newly opened exhibition "Fragments Of The Soul".
Colorful and paradoxical, Saner’s work parallels Zagar’s  mosaicked environment with site-specific murals, illustrations, video projections, and paintings created on salvaged material from the city ofPhiladelphia. Fragments of the Soul explores what we have left behind in life and exposes the small, secret parts to our souls.

Coverage: Cyrcle "Nothing Exists!" Solo Exhibition @ Montreal's Station16 Gallery

Yesterday, we stopped by Station16 Gallery in Montreal, Canada where our friends of Cyrcle recently opened their newest solo exhibition entitled "Nothing Exists!".
Nothing exists is a philosophical quandary, a statement comprised of absolute polarities, in which it’s meaning is inherently dependent on one’s perception. This composition presents us with the opportunity to think critically. Whether abstract or rational this contradiction confronts us with a perplexing challenge, testing both our beliefs and knowledge. Somewhere between something and nothing exists a space of uncertainty. This moment is immeasurable, yet more substantial than that which is tangible.
Nothing exists, it is waiting to be defined. Questioning this requires faith and fact. The more we understand that nothing is something, we realize nothing exists. See blind. Hear silence. Feel the truth.
The Los Angeles duo unveiled a brilliant body of work incorporating glow in the dark pieces on canvas, sculptures and installations. Don't miss it!
Hit the jump for a bunch of extra images and if you are in the area, the show will be running until July 4th at 3523 St Laurent in Montreal.

Coverage: Yarrow Slaps "Get This Power" Solo Exhibition @ Los Angeles' New Image Art Gallery

A few days ago, we stopped by New Image Art Gallery in Los Angeles to attend the opening of our buddy Yarrow Slaps "Get This Power", his first major solo exhibition.
After an exclusive sneak peek in his San Francisco studio, we were excited to discover his most recent body of work which includes large and small scale painting, installation, and photography depicting various niche hip-hop influences and urban ephemera.
Yarrow’s paintings have a cheeky upbeat appeal even when commenting on the social climate within today’s urban environment. His process imbues a “low-tech kitchen table aesthetic” that resonates with sophistication and naiveté. Building upon pre-existing SF creative culture, Yarrow Slaps continues to evolve artistically and present work that is both authentic and relevant.
Continue reading for more images and if you are in the area, the show will be running until June 10th at New Image Art, 7920 Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood, California 90046.
