Studio Visit: Sandra Chevrier
A few days ago, we stopped by Sandra Chevrier's studio in Montreal, Canada to catch up with her before her latest group exhibition "Trifecta" curated by Yasha Young at Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York City.
Sandra Chevrier merges painting and collage in works that reflect upon the self-imposed limitations within our world and the underlying tragedy of oppressed female identity. In her pieces, finely hand-painted portraits of women are masked with pages from comic books, symbolizing the struggle of having to uphold unrealistic expectations of beauty and perfection. The images used within her pieces range from scenes of conflict, triumph and defeat. Often focusing on the latter, the artist highlights the fragility of the superhero, their personal weaknesses and exposes the humanity within the superhuman.
Continue reading for more images and if you stop by New York City, the "Trifecta" show runs until July 25th @ 529 West 20th Street.

Ted Pim, a series of baroque pieces in Europe & North America
Meet Ted Pim, a 28-year-old street artist born in Belfast who has travelled the world painting inside abandoned buildings. The Irish artist spent the last 6 years painting baroque-inspired murals in dark spaces across the United States and Europe in Atlanta, Sevilla, London and Belfast. All of his pieces have been documented with an old-school analogue camera and up until recently have only been seen by a handful of people. His work is inspired heavily by the old masters, he likes to create moody and atmospheric pieces that unintentionally have a religious undertone (possibly due to him growing up in a working-class Catholic area during the tail end of 'The Troubles' in Belfast).

Lonac paints a photo realistic mural in Vodnjan, Croatia
Participating in the local Boombarstick festival, Lonac recently wrapped up another fantastic photo realistic mural. Working on it for almost two weeks in the scorching Mediterranean sun, the new piece is titled "White Noise".
Zagreb-based artist spent last couple of weeks working on this beautiful mural in a quaint old town of Vodnjan. Avoiding the strong sun and warm weather, the artist had only few hours of daylight at the beginning and end of the day to work on this piece. Patiently progressing on a large facade of a local family home, he just finished this mural showing a portrait of his friend listening to a sea shell with fishes swimming around her. Though working on unprimmed, old building, Lonac managed to get the desired bright colors which allowed him to create a great sense of depth in this piece. Through use of colors and light he created an illusion that makes it hard to tell whether the action takes place in the sea or in the air.
